Grant monies used to expose the link between violence and academic performance
Imagine being afraid to play at your neighborhood park, pool or basketball court. For many Chicago children, this is the case. Places that were created for family recreational use are now territories for street gangs. This exposure to inner-city youth violence shows a direct link to poor academic performance and student behavior. With a grant received by the Khesed Foundation, Life Focus decided to address the issues urban children face. In "Education under Fire," the Life Focus team sits down not only with children who have been impacted by Chicago street violence but with Chicago Public school officials and those outside of the school system who have dedicated their lives to addressing the problems children in urban areas face.
