Ron Hicks is a lifer behind the walls of the Louisiana State Penitentiary. Although many of those on the outside say he deserves his sentence for the crime he committed, Warden Burl Cain believes that a life time is too long to live without any hope. Hicks, along with many other prisoners, participates in intense programs that Warden Cain has implemented—programs that involve a rigorous daily routine requiring hard work and intense study.
