When Suicide Strikes
Facing the Unimaginable

When the son of world-renowned pastor Rick Warren took his own life, the world was stunned. The easy-going leader had built Saddleback Church from a band of 60 to a megachurch of 36,000. He had gained global acclaim with his best-selling book, “The Purpose Driven Life.” But now Warren’s success failed him—his beloved son was gone and all the book sales in the world wouldn’t bring him back. Host Mona Hennein, having lived through the aftermath of her own brother’s suicide, pointedly asks Rick Warren and his wife Kay, “Where is God when our loved ones take their lives?” “How should the church handle those with mental illness?” and “Does faith really make a difference for those left behind?”
